As the availability of new technology for the dental practice increases, the need to adequately integrate these resources grows. There are many software, hardware and practice management issues that surround the implementation and continued use of various technologies in the dental practice. The practice manager or dentist must formulate a plan for integration and implementation before ever purchasing a new technology.

At first glance, one may think this area of the practice management “Toolkit” is a geek's guide to setting up the hardware and software in an operatory, but it is much broader than that. The dentist and entire staff should understand how the various technologies are of benefit to the patient and quality of care. This area of the “Toolkit” will continue to evolve and grow to help make the integration of technology a less frustrating experience that works toward better patient care.
